That's not how it works in the NFL. Baltimore's strength has always been it's defense.
If Flacco is a top ten QB then pay him top ten money... not number one money.
what I mean is when a QB is moving the ball down the field for 300+ yards their defense sits on the sidelines and watches. And that makes the defense better.
Some people think Flacco got over paid in comparison to other elite QB's like Rodgers, Brees, Brady, etc.
I dont agree. I think the NFL is prepared for the new turnover of QB's. Franchises have been planing on paying the new crop of QB's that have come up the biggest $ ever. They have just been waiting for the time to come. And when 1 wins the SuperBowl and the other was 7 yards shy of playing against him, thats a good indication the time is now.
Other than Rodgers whos the games best and still only 29, Brees and Brady and the old vets who are on their way to retirement.
From a QB perspective in 2-3 seasons Rodgers, Ryan 27, Flacco 28 will be the games best and most Elite QBs.
Followed by the new youngstas who still need a few years to develop like Stafford 24, Wilson 23, Luck 23.
And as revenues and inflation rise, so do the salaries.
Personally I believe a QB should be the highest paid player with the games best maxed out at about $10 mill/season. But all players being over paid is a different discussion. lol
