fido, do you believe Robert Sacre is a better player and can do more than Kenyon Martin? Judgements aside from potential 'character' issues on a pure player talent point, answer that honestly.

yo.

I believe at this point they both do the exact same thing and will / would play the same minutes if either were to be here.

Sacre is cheap and has a higher ceiling, Kenyon costs more and his best days are long behind him. It would be a useless signing at a position the Lakers don't need help in.

If you're gonna spend money on someone else, look for a backup wing player or a backup PG. I'll take Pietrus and find a deal for Blake & Duhon long before I'd even blink an eye Kenyon's way. The guy wouldn't help one single bit.

Thats irrelevant because if you sign K-Mart you are bringing the attitude with the skills not just the skills.

If he brings the 'attitude' and doesn't behave, you cut him, simple. Nothing to lose. Very easy. No risk, potential reward.

Yeah he ain't free man.

You don't sign someone then cut them saying, Oh well", while that money still is coming out of your pocket and counting towards the cap and luxury tax bill.

Sacre is cheap and has a higher ceiling, Kenyon costs more.

He himself said you can have him for less than the vet's min. and even a non-guaranteed contract. I don't really see much of a 'risk' there.

Also, 'higher ceiling'? Call me when Sacre makes an All-Star team. He's got a LONG ways to go, if ever.

Call me when Kenyon makes an All-Star team again too. All-Star appearances mean nothing and it's a moot point.

It's still money against the cap and luxury tax and it's still a player at a position that won't help one bit.

Oh yes, how convenient (chuckles). That's besides the point.

I don't think he would get minutes other than garbage minutes on this team.

That's yet another issue, where do his minutes come from? You're not running him ahead of Hill or Jamison. You'd spend money on a bad attitude player, who can't contribute anything at a position you're already fine at.

Sometimes (actually a lot of times) I don't understand why so many people on here want to sign any player (especially one who's name they know) simply on the basis of what they've done in the past, not who they are right now.

Lol how is the fact that Kenyon made an all star team like 10 years ago, translate to him actually being a good player now?

Metta made an all star team before, he doesn't exactly look like the same player now does he?

Wise guy. Joe Pesci would approve. But seriously, should be pretty clear. I'd be shocked for as long as you've been around the internet and a forum or forums, that you've never seen that before and don't know what it means. I simply can't believe you would make such a statement. You're obviously an extremely knowledgeable poster & person, but in this case, a statement like that, clearly you're just allowing your hate or dislike for the guy to completely cloud some clear & obvious logic.

Seriously, I don't know what "SMH" is.

That aside, Kenyon Martin is a redundant signing, it makes zero se4nse to pay a player that fills a role that's already filled.

If you're going to spend more money, spend on a need not on a washed up veteran with an attitude problem that gives no help. I am baffled as to why you think he'd help, where his time is coming from if he was on the Lakers or why the Lakers would spend money on a position that's already filled.

Well, at least I think you admitted that he's always been and still (even at this point in his career) is better than Sacre. It'd be pretty dumb (to be kind) not to agree with that.

At this point right now, no, I said he does about as much for the team as Sacre already does at a much cheaper price and gamble.
