Sacre is cheap and has a higher ceiling, Kenyon costs more and his best days are long behind him. It would be a useless signing at a position the Lakers don't need help in.
If you're gonna spend money on someone else, look for a backup wing player or a backup PG. I'll take Pietrus and find a deal for Blake & Duhon long before I'd even blink an eye Kenyon's way. The guy wouldn't help one single bit.

fido, do you believe Robert Sacre is a better player and can do more than Kenyon Martin? Judgements aside from potential 'character' issues on a pure player talent point, answer that honestly.
Thats irrelevant because if you sign K-Mart you are bringing the attitude with the skills not just the skills.

If he brings the 'attitude' and doesn't behave, you cut him, simple. Nothing to lose. Very easy. No risk, potential reward.
Nothing to lose? So whos paying his salary? lol

You don't sign someone then cut them saying, Oh well", while that money still is coming out of your pocket and counting towards the cap and luxury tax bill.

He himself said you can have him for less than the vet's min. and even a non-guaranteed contract. I don't really see much of a 'risk' there.Sacre is cheap and has a higher ceiling, Kenyon costs more.
Also, 'higher ceiling'? Call me when Sacre makes an All-Star team. He's got a LONG ways to go, if ever.

It's still money against the cap and luxury tax and it's still a player at a position that won't help one bit.

Oh yes, how convenient (chuckles). That's besides the point.Call me when Kenyon makes an All-Star team again too. That's a moot point.

Sometimes (actually a lot of times) I don't understand why so many people on here want to sign any player (especially one who's name they know) simply on the basis of what they've done in the past, not who they are right now.

Metta made an all star team before, he doesn't exactly look like the same player now does he?

That aside, Kenyon Martin is a redundant signing, it makes zero se4nse to pay a player that fills a role that's already filled.
If you're going to spend more money, spend on a need not on a washed up veteran with an attitude problem that gives no help. I am baffled as to why you think he'd help, where his time is coming from if he was on the Lakers or why the Lakers would spend money on a position that's already filled.
