Kobe's going to be fine, and he's going to be ready for the Opener. I'd like to think he's finished for the pre-season and can just start focusing on Portland.

My leg hurts every time I see the replay.

Exactly. I watched the game stream on the net, when they replay it, I go ****. I myself have knee injuries, but this hyperextension, I may be able to 'feel' the pain....even if he can walk it off, come back in street clothes looking normal, but once it's cooled off and up the next morning, I'd figure it to swell...just hope it isn't serious into the knee.

God Bless Kobe.

But then again, I keep telling myself that Kobe is a tough guy, he wun let it bother him.

John Ireland (on sportscenter) said the reason Kobe looked over at the bench that way was because he had never had the injury before and thought it was bad when it happened, and he's told teammates that he doesn't think it's serious or as bad as he first thought. Kobe said to John that his knee was "sore" and that's it. So we should see some sort of diagnosis around noon.

i hope he's alright.. but knowing Kobe, he's been super strong. So if this is the "un-serious" injury they say it is, he should be fine. i'd rather him sit out the rest of the preseason if necessary so that we can have him better for the reg season.

KOBE UPDATE?
SHAQ REGARDING KOBE: "WOW. I HOPE HE'S OK. THAT'S MY GUY."

Kobe Bryant said his hyper-extended right knee was sore, but he didn't have much else to report after the Lakers' 102-98 victory Tuesday night over the Charlotte Bobcats at the San Diego Sports Arena. He said he would know more Wednesday afternoon. He's scheduled to be re-examined by the team's medical staff. The team termed him day-to-day.
Meanwhile at Staples Center, where the Clippers played host to Phoenix, Suns center Shaquille O'Neal told our own Ramona Shelburne, "Wow, I hope he's OK. That's my guy."

The Lakers didn't seem overly concerned about Bryant's injury immediately after the game, with Phil Jackson saying rather playfully that the league's reigning MVP would "maybe" play in Tuesday's regular-season opener against Portland.

Said Derek Fisher when asked if Bryant would play Tuesday, "Definitely."
Bryant was hurt with 3:08 left in the first half, when he landed awkwardly while chasing after a rebound. He left for the locker room and didn't return to the game. He watched the second half from a seat near the bench while dressed in street clothes.

Haha no one's buying your fake concern Shaq. I'm sure you're giddy at the possibility that Kobe is injured, not because you hate him, but because he's a mountain of a roadblock to your next ring.

I hyperextended my knee a few months ago playing pick-up football, and while I could walk on my own without any assistance, it still hurt like hell and I definitely couldn't do any physical activity for at least a few weeks. I know people will just want to believe "oh they're just being precautious", and "that's just how Kobe is", but I just have the feeling it's worse than most of you think (but not anything major..maybe out 2-3 weeks (so 1-2 of the actual season) which will amount to about 5-6 games) Just from experience, a hyper-extended knee isn't something you quickly recover from, but then again I'm not Kobe and I don't have a world-class medical team.

I saw this and was going to post "Let me see the Shaq haters turn this into another Shaq hate thread" but, I was too late since someone already did that.

Sorry if I don't let Shaq's contributions to our team (which I am very grateful for) excuse his immature, jealous behavior.

I just don't get the need to diss him. This is gonna be the 5th year without Shaq, that book is long gone. I got nothing but love and respect. for Shaq.

Tell that to Shaq who's bitterness reared its ugly head yet again just a few months ago in the form of a freestyle. The book should be long gone, but Shaq always pops out to add a new chapter.

EL SEGUNDO — The sky-is-falling doomsayers out there will have to look for something new: Kobe Bryant’s knee is OK.

Bryant is probable to play in the exhibition game vs. Charlotte on Thursday night in Anaheim. He had only minor soreness today in the right knee he hyperextended Tuesday night in San Diego.

“It feels OK,” Bryant said. “It’s sore, but it’s all right.”

Bryant said there was initial panic when he heard a crunch and a pop upon landing in an awkward collision with teammate Josh Powell, but the ACL tests he did with trainer Gary Vitti soon after largely ensured no major damage.

“I saw the (championship) ring flash before my eyes,” Bryant said. “I was pretty worried there for a second.”

Good to hear.

Though I don't think he should be playing tomorrow night. Why risk it?

Yea seriously, no need to risk it. He should rest. Sometimes Kobe's pride pisses me off.
