I don't see him taking the minimum. He's 29 coming off a year where he made around 7.5 million.

He seemed like he stank it up during the last playoffs, but the questions here are if he can still play defense, and is he better than Steve Blake? Also, if he won't take the vet min, it's prob won't happen.

When has Barbosa ever played defense?

He knows how to run with Nash. He will be a great addition. he cuts, shoots well, relenlessly moves around causing defense to shift a lot.
Part of the lakers problem last year was implementing such an obvious offensive scheme. STAGNANT, especially our bench due to lack of options. He can log good 20-25mins where he can burn some time for kobe playing with starters in the early 2nd and 4th qtrs with Nash.

He would be a good fit for our offense off the bench. We can play an up-tempo style w/ Pau, Jamison, Blake and he's a combo guard that can back up Kobe and Nash.

No way he signs for the vet min, but if we can get him for the MME it would push us much closer to a ring (a good use of 2 million, aka the diff between vets min and MME).

Also, he's a career .391% 3-point shooter. Pay him his money Mitch.

I guess I need to clarify myself. When has Barbosa ever been a consistent player on defense? I wouldn't mind having him come off the bench for offense but I surely wouldn't expect any defense from him.

If they were offering Miles the mini, I'm sure they're offering Barbosa the same. Of all the free agents left, he's probably my number one choice. I'm just not sure we can get him. Hopefully Nash can convince him.
