Hey guys I played the guitar a little and started to learn on my own a few months ago, sadly school got in the way of that. So I want to start back up since I got some free time. Does anyone else here play the guitar? If so got any pointers for a new player like myself. Also can anyone tell me where to start because I have no damn clue. I used to look up tabs, but didnt feel like I was actually learning how to play.

Hey man, I got friends that play guitar and they say the best thing to do is learn your chords, from there you could pretty much learn to play anything or write your own music.

Just like theMadSci have said. Master the basic chords first and choose songs that has simple strumming techniques and work your way up to more complicated chords (minor 7ths, dim, etc) and songs.

just know that it takes time... don't get frustrated... put time in. one thing I wish I would have done sooner is learning my fretboard. know your scales, but know the notes you are playing! that way you will be able to play chords all over your guitar because you know which notes make a chord and you know where those notes are on the fretboard.

oh yeah, have fun playing :)

Thanks guys I feel like a better player then I was before when I played since I actually have a clue on what to do when I play. Now back to playing my finger tips hurt like hell, but no pain no gain.
