I do not like the idea of deleting because it will erase all the posts the users contributed and will affect their post count.
You dont necessarily have to delete them. Many forums just close the thread once the topic is resolved and just take them away from the front page of a forum.

Do you really care about that?I do not like the idea of deleting because it will erase all the posts the users contributed and will affect their post count.

Not necesarily, but sure hell would if I lost some posts.Do you really care about that?
I say create an "Archive" section, move all the outdated/meaningless topics to that section. Problem solved.

Just recently, fido locked two topics (the Courtney Lee thread, and one about us using the amnesty on Ron Artest) because Lee found a home and the amnesty deadline passed.
But, there's no reason to lock anything that isn't similar to that, such as a topic about us signing Steve Nash.
As far as deleting topics, that's out of the question. The topics that get deleted are those that are duplicates, those that are spam/useless...and even though I haven't done it in a long time, previously locked topics that were getting out of hand (trolling, personal attacks, etc).
