Is there anyway to get either of these? I'm noticing more forums are getting them and it makes it a lot nicer. Anytime someone quotes a post you made it'll send you a notification (like a PM) and take you to where your post got quoted.

& I'm not sure if this is possible but on LWHQ they have a mention system which is nice as well. So if you're talking about someone or want to get someone's opinion who might not see the thread, you just go @Real Deal (or any member) and it'll send him/her a mention notification, so basically like Twitter.

Just some ideas that make the forum nicer if it's possible.

There's already such a notification option. When someone quotes your post you get a new message in form of a "new conversation" which redirects you to your post which was quoted. Check your notification options.

About the second idea .. I don't think it's such a good one .. Facebook already looks like Twitter with all those @someone @somewhere doing @something .. It's very annoying. I personally don't want this on TLN. That's just an opinion ..

We have the notification for quotes option available, just check under "My Settings" and check it off. The @someone tag is something I'm not sure of, I don't think we have that feature available at the moment. RD would know better if we have that option available in the board settings.

Didn't even know after 19K posts we have the quote system. But Real Deal should look into the mention system it's nice.

My Settings->Notification Options. Scroll down to the section "Topics & Posts", under "Notify me when someone quotes my posts" check the box where you want to be notified.

One question, what is the "Inline Notification" method?

Yeah, the mention is a really nice feature on other forums.

The only problem I can see with this, though, is people calling out others in topics...and having us mentioned in those posts, to come in and "moderate" in places that we really shouldn't have to venture into. I mean, sure...we need to see quite a bit that is posted here, but simple disagreements don't need to result in bans...yet, some people think so.

With the amount of PM's I get already, I can only imagine how many mentions I would get for the same reasons.

I'm kind of on the fence here.

To be honest, I don't think we really need this feature. I could see it being a lot more trouble than useful, especially if two people are having a heated discussion about something on these boards. If a person has any interest in a certain topic, they'll usually find their way to it and check up on it.

I just think this could end up being one of those features that gets abused like the report button was.

Yeah but it'll be easier for a person like myself. Where I only check a couple of threads. I do not view the RT thread a whole lot. So if anything is posted towards me (which probably will not happen), it'll be easier with mention.

If we had the @mention system and GP still here, this forum would probably be closed by now
