PG-13? GTFOUTTA' HERE. The hardcore violence was part of what made the original Robocop what it was. SMH.

Oh yes.. take the traditional silver and black outfit into pure black and red...

Let's add the family element rather than giving him a partner and turn it into his wife making him want to be with his son...

let's take the way he goes out on duty in a terrible neighborhood and butcher that with a car exploding..

Let's remove the awesome villain and his army turning the city to crap that's a viable threat to Robocop and make it FOCUS on him discovering his emotions again and make it 90% of the movie and push all the "cop" stuff and avenging his murder on the backburner.

Let's throw out the police corruption and turn it into a feel good movie about "humanity always overriding the system and family and love conquering all else."

Throw Samuel L Jackson in there to make it seem legit.

And last but not least rate it PG-13 and hope nobody notices...

DONE!

I've always liked Steve Blake.

This is all true, yet, you have to remember it's a reboot not a remake. They are taking some key elements but won't do a complete scene for scene remake. The humanity side is to try and get the audience more connected with Murphy while he's a robot. I agree 100% about the PG-13 but judging from the scene where you see him on the hospital bed missing an arm and leg it won't be a soft PG.

I had little to no hope for the remake at first, but now I will watch it expecting maybe a 6.5/10.

Had they just left the original silver design with some modifications, it would have just been fine.  I hate that they made it black.

What makes it even more disappointing is just how good a cast it has. Gary Oldman & Samuel L? Michael Keaton's even been alright from time to time.

This one he actually involved with his wife, I could be wrong but the original one doesn't he drive by their home and just spy on her.

A lot of action looks alright.

drives to their home and starts "remembering" things, while trying to find out about his past life he's been dreaming about.   Which was a deeper scene I think.

This movie won't be able to have anything like this:

the-100-greatest-gore-moments-in-movie-h

or a villain as memorable as Red Forman I mean Clarence Boddicker..

not to mention classic moments such as

Despite all the advancements in technology and a pretty promising cast, the PG-13 rating especially dooms it from the start along with a seemingly crappy story concept compared to the original among other bad omens Majesty mentioned.

So Kinnaman is the dude that got in the brutal fight with Reynolds in Safehouse?

Cute women though: Abbie Cornish and Aimee Garcia

Michael Williams and Jackie Haley could make it ok but again...it's only PG-13

This is the film's director:

Anyone have any insight on him?

The cast doesn't surprise me.

A lot of actors live by the credo that you do one film for a paycheck you don't want to do so you can do the two or three you want to do for less.''And a note, it's a remake.  Reboot is just another way for studios to sell you on the impression of a new film - of which this isn't.

Hmm... shame on me for not thinking this more often. It really almost seems like should be common sense. Thank you for making that point.

Not necessarily. Batman begins was a reboot not a remake

Man of steel was a reboot not a remake

A remake to me is an attempt to recreate the success of the original

If there are wholesale changes made from the original then it's a reboot IMO
