Tracey Murray barely played as well. He only played 193 minutes total (average of 6.2 minutes per game - Tracey Murray Stats) with the team during the whole season and playoffs, and most of that was in complete garbage time. Tough to judge a player at that point. Plus, he was towards the end of his career when he was with the Lakers. He only played one more year afterward, with Portland and yet again barely saw any floor time.

So I don't count these guys as some "curse" thing. Most of the shooters the Lakers got were either at the end of their careers or vastly under-played (sans Vlad Radmanovic, who just refused to play defense and trying to make him play defense completely threw his game off - he was terrible). If they were younger shooters or saw consistent minutes not in garbage time they did as well with the Lakers as they did with other teams.

Back on topic though - Jodie Meeks would be a fantastic pick-up for the Lakers.

He is deadly on a pull-up, on the catch-and-shoot, and coming off screens. He is young. Nash would do wonders with Meeks, and he will free up space for our bigs. Don't know why Lakers haven't offer him anything yet, we need to jump on before anyone else. Someone who hits 6 three's in the first Quarter you sign him quick. Last year he was making 0.9 million, Sign him up asap!

Nothing Goudelock hasn't done in college and we have Goudelock on our team. We don't need to overload at guard right now we need to focus on the threes.

All the good people say Nash could do for Meeks, Nash could do the same thing for Goudelock.

Goudelock has put in his heart and soul into the off-season in getting in better shape AND working on his handles and defense because he knows that's where he was weak, just as morris has, and deserves a shot in camp to see what he can do and in summer league as well and with a full training camp its up to our 2nd years and rookies to break out, and I think they will.

We got a guard that can spread the floor in Goudelock, and Nash working with Morris and DJO will do WONDERS. So honestly, another guard we don't need. A consistent bench 3? Yes.

George McCloud
Glen Rice
Vlad Rad
Kapono
Kareem Rush
Sam Jacobson

Scratch Rush, he actually shot well with the Lakers and more to the point, was a draft pick, not a FA. Replace with, say, Blake.

The point is that we need to get younger off the bench because we already have a old and slow starting 5.

If we sign Jodie Meeks, I think the FO will surely trade one of our guard "projects". Either Morris, Glock or DJO are gone.

When Jodie was in college, his dad was always on Kentucky message boards promoting his son.

If we sign Jodie, his dad may just join TLN.

I can't tell you now.

He used to post under the name "Mr. Meeks" on a web-site called "Wildcatnation". It really wasn't a very good site, and I haven't checked around there in a while.

Jodie got flamed a bit for leaving UK after his junior year, with Calipari coming in. He would've played with Wall/Cousins/Bledsoe/Patterson had he stayed, and was viewed by many as the missing piece to a title team. (That team went to Elite 8 and lost to West Virginia). Jodie's last team at UK missed the NCAA tourney.

I doubt his dad still hangs out on the web-site trying to convince UK fans that his son made the right decision.

......

In fact . . . google "Mr Meeks Wildcat Nation" and it will pull up links to a bunch of threads where people are talking about him (if not necessarily to him). One I was just looking at was people talking about why he had quit posting there.

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to express interest in Jodie Meeks, according to source. No deal is imminent, but the two sides are talking.
