DJ Mbenga is not a lock to make the Lakers regular season roster, so he continues to work hard in hopes of making an impression on coach Phil Jackson.

"I'm just working hard, trying to do my best," Mbenga said. "Coach hasn't told me anything. I'm just going to do my best."

Mbenga signed two 10-day contracts with the Lakers last season.

"I'm just going to see what happens," Mbenga said. "But I'm ready to go."

DJ Please STAY

I'd keep him, since he's like insurance if one of our big men go down. He's not a bad backup either, as long as he doesn't try to do much offensively

We'll need some backup if there will be any fights that involves LA.

If we don't keep him he's going to go to another team and become an All-Star (and Laker killer) like all other ex-Lakers do. Lock him down for 6 years, Mitch! :nervous:

I really think he should stay. Although I'd have to say that Mihm gets my nod before Mbenga does.

Mbenga shouldn't play unless we're blowing someone out of the water or because we need someone more athletic to stop the opposing center.

Though I think between the combination of: Bynum-Gasol-Mihm-Odom-Powell, we really should not have to use Mbenga.

Agreed!

I really wish we hadn't let go of Smush or Kwame or Chucky or Cook or Von Wafer!!!!!!!!!

He responded well in today's game though, so it's not hard to retain him. I hope at least.
