July 1 - July 7 is the Amnesty period. The scrub lottery teams get their chance first as they bid on these guys. If nobody bids on them then they become unrestricted free agents

So here are some players that might get amnestied

Sacramento: John Salmons/Francisco Garcia

I've heard that there's a good chance that Elton Brand gonna get amnestied. I would like to have Ben Gordon and Francisco Garcia on the team. I'm iffy on Charlie and Tyrus Thomas.

With the Lakers' salary we will be last in the bidding for many of these guys.

I really like Ben Gordon. He'd be great off the bench.

It's teams that have cap space that can bid. They don't have to be lottery teams.

The Lakers don't fall into that category either, so it's moot.

The only way we can get an amnestied player is by a combination of luck and the player wanting to come to LA - like the Clips did with Billups, Knicks with Baron Davis and Memphis with Gilbert Arenas.

Out of the current Amnesty-crop, perhaps we could get Elton Brand. If he gets amnestied and then announce that he would consider retiring if he doesnt go to a contender. Since we may have an opening on the PF front (if Pau is gone), perhaps we have a chance.

Another option would be to try and get Rashard Lewis who most likely will be bought out from the Hornets - he would even be a nice fit in LA.

Guys, after a player is amnestied, teams with CAP SPACE ONLY can bid on a player for his services, paying for part of his contract while the original team pays for the rest of it. If NO TEAM bids on the player in the allotted time (I am not sure how long exactly but it happens pretty soon if there is no bids) then the player becomes a free agent and he can sign with any team he wants.

Thomas & Darko would be serviceable CHEAP bench players; especially Thomas with his atleticism

Ben and Tyrus would be my only choices. Ben is instant offense and a true BALLER. Tyrus can actually be used at the 3.

Son true agree except Lewis is with Heat now.

Tyrus Thomas is an awful player. He is just terrible. He has good games every now and then where he shows flashes of his potential, but then he reverts to normal with a string of boneheaded plays.

Not really interested in any of these guys.

Might be the dumbest player I've ever seen, awesome athlete but total scrub of a player.
