^ 'El Nino' really? So he's officially back? Finally?

Scored a brace as Spain featured him as their primary striker against Ireland. Spain just overwhelmed Ireland though, 4-0 ass kicking. Could have easily scored 6 or 7 if the Irish goalie didn't make so many amazing saves. Their defense was trash.

Yeah, I've watched every single game of the Euro Cup since Monday. Missed Spain's first game though, but after watching highlights and reading some articles, they apparently went with some really funky lineup in that match. I think they only used one forward in that match, and he came in as a sub late in the game.

Yeah, in their first game they didn't use any forwards. They had 6 midfielders for most of the game until they subbed Torres in late.

Man, watching this England/Sweden game and the Swedish defense sucks. I love Ibrahimovic but the Swedish side just has no one to help him out. They were up 2-1 at around 60 something minutes but all of a sudden England scored two quick goals. Ugh.

I really don't want England to advance but they probably will <_<

The back 6 of Sweden played severely below average today. I dont really dislike England, but they will get what is coming to them against Germany or Spain. The English players just lack the touch to compete with the likes of those two and others. It has been this way since the 80's. Sure they have had runs, and it only takes one lucky run, but it will be tough especially since the greatest strength of the English players are to impose themselves and run up and down the field, with the exception of Rooney, who I feel can legitimately play in any system. Those types of tacicts won't hold up against the best teams in the world: Whose tactics are to control pace with excellent side to side ball movement.

Furthermore, based on a poll done by fox soccer, roughly 52% of English football fans would like to see a "cap" on foreign players that can play in the BPL. The reason being some feel the best English players lack chemistry, whereas the Spanish and German players get to play together often at club level within certain systems. The exception would be the French players, who are found all over the place. IMO its a terrible solution, and I highly highly doubt something like that would even happen, but it just goes to show how desperate some have become. If the English want a real solution, IMO it starts at the youth academy, just look at Brazil and Argentina.

Watched the first half of the Croatia-Spain game earlier today and some of the Ireland-Italy match.

When you don't go to work because you're sick you'd be surprised just how little decent programming is on tv in the morning-around noon.

Good watch tho. Not a big soccer fan but when Euro national teams play it's usually alright.

Spain just played so average today, they were playing like they didn't even care. Capable of playing way better.

They were playing too "cute", trying to be fancy, and it almost came back to bite them.

Spain should have won the game by 2-3 goals and instead it took a late goal to beat Croatia. Sometimes, the better teams struggle to score against lesser opponents, but today it was a case of not putting forth the necessary effort.

Spain didn't play their best game, but don't forget that Croatia did look to play extremely defensive most of the game. IIRC, at one point they had 8 defensive players out on the field.

This is true, but there were just too many chances where the Spaniards could have fired off shots on goal and instead they would stop the ball and let the defense collapse on them or make one too many passes when it wasn't necessary.

They are through so I don't expect them to have another game like that.

Ibra with the goal of the tourney so far, but Sweden was already eliminated. Damn, I wish they could have advanced instead of England <_<

Ibra's and Balotelli's goals were both sick.

It's by far one of the most frustrating elements of futbol for me as a fan. When a team severely overpasses instead of actually taking [expletive]ing chances. Ughh

Spain's passing is just something else. They are on pin point majority of the time, and rarely have any hiccups. I was expecting a closer game tbh, but that first goal in the first 15 minutes really put Italy in a tight spot.
