Lakers get: Stoudemire & Shumpert + a 1st round pick
Knicks get: Gasol + a 1st & 2nd round pick
This would help the Knicks, so Melo could play better. It would also add a veteran to the Knicks.
This would help the Lakers, they get a good back up SG/PG in Shumpert and Amare didnt play well with Carmelo, so he'd probably play better with Kobe.

thats why i added in Shumpert, he's a great defender. They could also draft a good defensive PF with that 1st round pick in the trade

That'll be your worst trade idea so far.
Amaré is owed A LOT of money for A LONG time and he is clearly not the player he used to be. And Shumpert just tore his ACL in the playoffs.

I also think we should trade Gasol and Bynum, but not for a worse and more expensive player.
IMO we should move Pau to Houston for a package of Kyle Lowry, Chase Budinger and Kevin Martin or Luis Scola - Preferrably Martin.
Then we should try to move Bynum straight up for Howard.
After that we can try to fill out our roster using mini-midlevel, trades etc.
