Kobe wants more championships. Pau wants to stay a Laker. Both have two years left in their contracts that worth about $96 million. What if they voluntarily take a salary cut so that the Lakers can sign Deron Williams for two years? Is that possible?

No. Earlier it was possible to re-negotiate and extend a contract, but not anymore. Not if the new contract is less than the first. It would have been a good idea though.
