InsideSoCal: Phil Jackson suggested he might play forward Luke Walton at guard in upcoming exhibitions. Walton has yet to play in an exhibition after undergoing left ankle surgery during the summer. He is not averse to the idea, willing to play anywhere at any time.
"We're loaded all over the court, at every position," Walton said. "We have versatile people who can play multiple positions. You know, with the triangle, the (small forward) and the (power forward) are pretty much the same position out there. The (point guard) and the (shooting guard) are the same position out there. I know all five positions.
"It's going to be interesting to see how (Jackson) works it. As a player, all you can do is work hard and try to get opportunities to do something."
Walton sounded positively giddy at the prospect of playing Saturday night against Regal FC Barcelona, a Spanish club team, at Staples Center.
"I can't wait to play," he said.

luke knows the triangle like the back of his hand he has great passing skills and average handels why not try
Facilitate from the 3? Maybe.
At guard? He'd give up at least the same amount he produced. Pass.

hes healthy now dont judge him just yet lets see what he can do
even if he was healthy i wouldn't play him there
I'm sorry Walton doesn't have the handles to play guard. He'll get picked off quit frequently

Why are everyone so fixed with a player's core/natural position?
Out of position = mismatch at one end of the court...
Ever heard of "Defense wins Championships"???
That's why we haven't won any lately...Luke can facilitate...true. Can he play guard? Not likely. Mediocre to poor athlete, coming off injury, not his natural position...
Hint. Hint. Bad idea.

Am I the only one that read this as playing the guard role in the triangle (initiating the offense), NOT literally playing guard and defending against 2s?
so he's gonna be dumping the ball into Kobe in the post and hang around outside at the 3 point land? lol
woo hoo

I'm okay with that if he shoots 3s like he did the year he was rewarded with a nice contract. Luke was money from deep then.
