"Stan Van Gundy just acknowledged that Dwight Howard has asked that he be fired."

https://twitter.com/#!/HowardBeckNYT/status/187933677089595392

"Stan VanGundy at shootaround this AM: Management told me story is true that Howard asked for him to be fired (WOWZA)"

"Absolutely surreal: Dwight comes out and denies reports that he wants SVG fired, though SVG himself just said it on record moments earlier"

https://twitter.com/#!/HowardBeckNYT/status/187935886883823617

And here I thought the Andrew Bynum situation is bad but this Dwight Howard saga is even worse

If I were SVG, I would resign way before they fire me.

@ChrisMannixSI Van Gundy picked an opportune moment to speak his mind: TNT game, New York media in attendance. Maximum exposure on this.

@FisolaNYDN Dwight now denying he asked for Stan to be fired. Asked reporters to give up their source. Hey genius, the source is Stan

I'm glad we didn't trade for Dwight. What a clown.

I read that tweet and laughed. If I were a reporter and this diva Dwight tried to be a smart guy, I'd definitely tell him the source was his own coach.

My favorite tweet of the day has to be the moment after SVG released this information:

@Ian_OConnor: Howard comes in hugs Stan and doesn't realize Stan just confirmed story

I would also like to add: Kudos, to Stan Van Gundy

He might not be the best coach out there but he is not afraid to tell the truth. Dwight Howard is lucky to have SVG. Can you imagine if Howard had Gregg Popovich or Jerry Sloan? Howard wouldn't even survive training camp.

And as some other journalists have pointed out, what a time for SVG to say this when the New York Knicks are playing the Magic. The NY media threw gasoline onto a small brush fire

I remember Dwight Howard saying he didn't want this to be like the Carmelo drama last year. Dwight's inability to make a decision is going to destroy the franchise. Melo just said get me the hell out of here and got traded. Dwight looks like a bigger fool than Melo now.

Stan Van Gundy is about to get screwed over for the second time in his career. Pat Riley sent him out on a boat like Michael Corleone did to his brother Fredo in Miami, and now he is going to be axed because Howard wants a new coach.

I'd still take him on the Lakers though.

Shaq left Orlando because he asked ownership to fire Coach Brian Hill. For a plethora of reasons but thats a different topic but most notably Hills game plan to run the offense through Anfernee Hardaway and use Shaq as the 2nd option. The Magic ownership told Shaq that Brain Hill was their coach and that they trusted in his decisions.

And 4 months into the season Coach Brian Hill was fired by request of Anfernee Hardaway.
Heres a article about that:

And of course Shaq went to LA and won 3 titles. Who knows what the future brings.

The only difference is Shaq wanted to go to LA and he wasn't afraid of the spotlight. Meanwhile, Howard chickened out and was afraid that he will be considered the next Shaq.

This video contains the facial expression and reaction of what someone looks like at the moment they figure out they cant laugh and act like a child anymore to avoid taking responsibility for their own actions.
