If Phil were coaching we would probably still be in 3rd place in this conference.
"The way Steve is as a teammate, the way he sets the tone, the way the team kind of takes on his persona. As a coach, that's the best thing in the world. It's easy to coach. He's taking care of the chemistry. You just coach."

What part of Phil Jackson being the GOAT don't you understand???

Coaching is an important part of sports (they don't work for free) and no one has ever done it better than Phil Jackson. You might as well say: "If we had Durant instead of McRoberts, we would probably still be in 3rd place in this conference."

He's doing a DECENT job for this season.

The Lakers are playing better than I expected them to play. They just need a few tweaks, mostly the bench.

My post is no disrespect to Phil. Last year we trailed the Spurs too and OKC has leaped past both teams. Logic

I disagree. I think we'd be in the second spot in the West simply because we would have a better road record. Phil would have this team a lot more focused on the road.

But that would be the only difference with this team if we had Phil

If you say anything other than "We'd be going for our 3rd Championship in 4 years if Phil was coaching us" then you're deemed 'disrespecting the GOAT'

He has done a decent job in his first season as the head man of the Lakers. It's not an easy job. Just hope he gets better

I think if Phil was coaching we'd still be number 3 in the West but we'd have a better record just not better than SA & OKC.

Obviously. But he doesn't deserve all the criticism he has received. He deserves a significant amount but not tons and tons. What do you propose we do? Fire him and get someone else? Adelman is unfortunately with the Wolves and isn't leaving. He is the only coach in the league besides Phil that could coach the Lakers and handle all the pressure etc. imo. Maybe Popovich too but he's not leaving either.

Larry Brown comes to mind. He knows how to handle egos and has a ring as a head coach. They would respect him alot more.

Larry Brown would run off and leave us in the dust a season and a half later. No thanks.

^ No kidding. Larry Brown's been a quitter at least once, that's more than enough for me to want us to take a chance on him.

You mean the Larry Brown that takes a job then decides he can't do it anymore?

Might as well bring in Rudy T.
