Overrated IMO
There's a lot of better mafia movies out there including Casino and Goodfellas.

I agree that Goodfellas is better, but it's FAR from overrated. Casino was really good, but in no way was it better then Godfather.

I know it was good but when I say overrated I mean because its listed as the number 2 movie of all time according to the top 250 on IMDB and I really really dont think that.
Thats what I meant, but it is one of the best Mafia movies ever, just not as good as people make it out to be, (IMO)

You could make the argument that Godfather 2 is better than Godfather 1, but I would say Once Upon A Time is just as good as Godfather 1. It definitely has the best Gangsta soundtrack I ever heard

To me The Godfather 1 & 2 are just perfectly done, the character development, the scope, the acting, the plot twist, the climax, and resolution everything just worked out perfectly in both movies on a level I've never seen matched.

History Channel has been showing a cool special on The Godfather Trilogy called "The Godfather Legacy"
Really cool actually. I enjoyed all the info and interviews and opinions. Like Pacino talking about how Micheal felt etc. Great TV piece.
I may actually buy it:

Nobody has A Bronx Tale on their list?! Based on Chazz Palmintari's life. The guy who plays Sonny in the movie. Robert De Niro also stars in it. It's a great, great movie.

^^^   You're right, it is a great movie.  Not a lot of violence, but definitely gangster elements.   More of a coming of age film, but I loved it.

My gangster flicks, in order:

1.  Goodfellas
2.  Godfather / Godfather 2 (tie)
3.  Once Upon a Time in America
4.  Carlito's Way
5.  Menace II Society
6.  Heat
7.  Donnie Brasco
8.  Scarface
9.  Bronx Tale

10.  Casino

List revised for a third time.

And I think Public Enemies with johnny Depp playing John Dillenger was a great movie to, but it just didnt get the acclaim. I liked it though.
