Even though he's a risk, he could've helped us out alot.

At least now we know the Lakers are playing Smart. WE would've been stuck with a bad contract, and Artest, who is known to be Crazy.
Even though he's a risk, he could've helped us out alot.
You wouldn't be saying that if the Laker had gotten him

McGrady
Artest
Battier
Scola
Yao
but I think we still beat them as long as we contain McGrady and Yao and let Artest take his crazy shots.

Two questions:And that's why you are not the gm of any NBA team. And you further prove that you don't know what your talking about by showing you don't understand NBA rules.
1. is Artest an upgrade over lamar for the lakers needs at SF?
2. what about my post implies i dont understand nba rules?

Two questions:
1. is Artest an upgrade over lamar for the lakers needs at SF?
2. what about my post implies i dont understand nba rules?
1. Is he an upgrade at small foward, possibly. It all depends on what happens in Artest's head which we all know is unpredictable. However, we do know for sure he would create a further logjam at SF (Artest, Walton, Ariza, and Vladi). Is he an upgrade for the Lakers needs? 100% no. The Lakers need someone who can play both SF and PF, and play both well. Someone who is capable of starting both positions and defend the PFs that are in the western conference. No one knows how Bynum is going to come back. He could get hurt again. He could not be anywhere close to where he was last year. He probably won't be able to play big minutes right away. Therefore they need someone who can work around how Bynum comes back and play either position.
2. They can't do Artest and a filler w/o a bad contract for Odom. The salaries wouldn't match up. Any filler who is going to make the salaries even is going to be a bad contract. Odom = 14.5 mil, Artest = 8.5 mil. Any filler is going to have to be at least 5.5 - 6.5 mil. So the options would be John Salmons (16.5 mil/3 years) or Shareef (12.8 mil/2 years). Or they could get Kenny Thomas (16.5 mil/2 years) and the lakers would have to put in another small contract.

I just hope Houston dosent come out in this lineup:
McGrady
Artest
Battier
Scola
Yao
but I think we still beat them as long as we contain McGrady and Yao and let Artest take his crazy shots.
I Don't think they are deep enough to do that.
It's still a question mark whether Landry will be resigned, and They don't have a legit back up SG.

1. i dont disagree with that logic. A cheap, serviceable FA PF wouldnt be too hard to get. (skinner) Of course Lamar is a much better PF than skinner, but Artest's upgrade at SF trumps the downgrade at backup PF due to losing Lamar. The injury issue is the real issue. You make a really good point because if Pau or bynum goes down, not having Lamar would be pretty brutal. i guess its a pretty big roll of the dice. i can see both sides of the coin better now.1. 2. i was familier with salary matching on trades. i was speaking to Thomas' contract as the bad one. Shareef is what i meant when referring to a "not terrible" contract. (its not too pretty though)

We just need to improve out defense this year on the perimeter, either with Ariza improving, and the team learning to play defense at elite levels .

"Hopefully, he's not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands," Yao said, according to the Chronicle
He also said he's waiting for a phone call from Yao, according to the Bee.
"I guess once Yao Ming approves [the deal], I'll be a Houston Rocket," Artest said, according to the report. "[Yao] probably should've called me first. But at the same time, it's Yao Ming's team."
