Its confirmed the Celts wanna move Rondo.
I dont think the Celtics would do it because Pau is 31 and Rondo is 26. Celts will probably be looking for a younger star with potential.
Maybe even we add someone.
But if Boston was willing to trade Pau as the main piece (+ whoever, excluding KB and Drew) as a trade for Rondo would you do it?
I would w/o hesitation.
I wish we had LO back. Pau and LO for Rondo would have been hard for Boston to say no to.

No, there's nothing the Celtics could give us in addition to Rondo that could give us any depth at the 4 and we'd be ruined inside whenever Bynum sat.

absolutely. Unlike some shortsighted people if you have the opportunity to land an elite PG who is 25 years old to go with your elite center you do it without thinking. There is laker basketball past Kobe and there needs to be prep for that. Not to mention rondo would improve this team now

Yes. You don't pass on an all-star PG that can do nearly everything on the court, mocking the likes of a Jason Kidd.

Once you get Rondo...your draft picks, your TPE, your PF's and all of your PG's become available in an attempt to bring in a decent starting PF. The picks and the TPE alone would bring someone.

imagine Drew and Rondo being the Lakers cornerstones for the future and what they would be able to do together.
Given that thought Rondo may want to be a Laker.

Yes I agree. But can we get Rondo for the TPE and the Draft picks? If Boston is really rebuilding. Do you thing they would go for that instead of an older Pau? Then we can turn around and trade Pau for a younger PF. If things go right I can see us having a really good team by the end of the season!

Yes you take that deal as fast as possible if it's ever offered. And FYI to everyone else, I remember reading an article that said one of the reasons they would take Pau is because his contract comes off the books the same year as KG and PP. Which would allow them to sign anybody and their mother the next year.

Would be nice, but the TPE is only $8.9 million. Rondo is making $10 million. You can't exceed the TPE's value and can't combine it with other players to reach salary.

Plus, Boston wants a center. If they trade Rondo, that's what they are set on. They would run with:

C - Gasol
PF - Garnett
SF - Pierce
SG - Allen
PG - Bradley (or Blake)

Rondo <-> Gasol is the ideal trade both sides can make regarding those players.

I really hope it happens, we need a PG badly. And considering post-Kobe era, we'd have R&B that would make us at the very least relevant.

Like others have said already, we still have couple of options left to improve the squad where it lacks. Picks, McRoberts, Ebanks, rookies etc. can bring us good pieces to support Rondo-Kobe-Bynum... Just consider what other teams have. Thunder's on Durant-Westbrook with Harden and Ibaka main supporters. None of other West teams would have that kind of depth except us. (in terms of quality) I wished we could bring Beasley but what they ask is too much (if rumours for 2 picks are correct) But there are other players on block that make us better. I assume we can bring Marvin Williams. For a 4-5 option he'd be great. Maybe we can bring Ariza back. O.J. Mayo is always in talks... a lot of options, especially for this draft 2 draft picks in 1st round could be nice bait.

In addition, wouldn't Rondo's contract really be 20 million because of luxury tax if a trade like that was possible? (One of the reasons we didn't sign Beasley.)
