Saw this, and I would do this as a Laker fan. Works for all parties involved.
Dwight, Scola, Jameer to Lakers... Gasol, Barnes, our 1st round to Houston... Bynum, Kev Martin, Dragic, Parsons to Orlando
Idea to get Dwight

But just like any other deal, it all depends on if he can extend. If there's any chance he doesn't want to, you don't trade for him. I really think he has a hard time being a number 2, that's why he wants NJ.

I would do something like this even without the extension, if D12 indicated that he wanted to “try it out” first. If he was totally unwilling and non-committal – then no – obviously.
Why take the chance? Well, if we do not get D12, then we will be hard pressed to contend for a title. For context, I want trips to the finals. I have no interest being the 6th best team in the league.
If D12 comes and then does not extend, then it takes us closer to the ultimate re-build that might be required anyway.
If someone shows me another plan where we do not get D12, but are one of the top 2-3 teams in the league, I am all ears : )
