There is no space for him in the future, so what if he could average 15 and 10, we could find someone else who could do the same job. We have a bunch of SF's. We have Gasol and Bynum, we don't need Lamar's inconsistency in our team anymore. He could play his [expletive] of this season Mitch is not going to keep him. Ariza could probably do a better job than Odom.

first off odom can piss me off sometimes but you are crazy if you think 15ppg 10rpg guys just grow on trees

i bet you can't name more than 3 non-stars who do what LO does

Sure Lamar can average 15 and 10 but he has his 3 'good games' and then he has his 2 points and 7 rebounds games..Thats the kind of guy you want to keep in your team.

OMG... taking a cut to stay with this team? wow.. doesnt that show how much passion he has for this team.. r u guys seriously questioning if he's worth it?? omg... wowowow.

i gotta stop reading these lamar threads.. they just piss me off even more..

The LO threads on this forum are mild compared to the hate he gets on other message boards. I do agree with you though that anytime a player willingly takes a cut in pay to play for a team, that shows strong character, and in LO's case I think he's definitely worth it.

Saying you'll take less to stay is easy now in the abstract. However when a team is offering a larger role and puts more money is on the table it's very hard to say no and stay. imo he wants an extension offer which his agent can then use as a baseline. I can't see Odom staying for 8M when he'll have 10M offers. Even if Odom did agree to 8M it woudl be for max years and Buss would still hesitate. In this economy owners are going to hesitate to get to a 100M payroll, which is what Buss would be looking at even with an 8M deal.

^ Keep in mind that Odom will qualify for a no-trade clause from us if we resign him next summer. Few players ever are given that opportunity.

So, I don't think he's speaking out his butt when he says that he may take less money, especially when the Lakers can offer security as far as staying put. Also, the guy has lived in LA for all but one year of his NBA career. That, and his RichSoil record label and other businesses are located here. There's a lot of advantages for staying here.

Me telling a guy to calm down means I hate LO?

Nice leap.

LO's not a SUPER Bench-type player. He's a starter who is well suited for up and down basketball. If they abandon the triangle on the 2nd unit, maybe he plays well. If they run the triangle, not a chance in heck.

I don't hate LO. I don't see LO as a good fit for this offense or this team. Never has been. Sorry I was right.

In fairness to Lamar Odom, he is a perfect fit with the 2nd unit...

The 2nd unit does not really run the triangle, more like running and gunning... he will definitely play PF, and the ball will be in his hands...

He's not going to start at PF, but he's still going to play PF and SF. Odom can easily average 15 and 10 with another team. He might start at PF if GaSoft or Bynum get injured during the season.

Why do people always bring up Odom's salary when they talk about him? I don't see people talking about Luke's contract, Vlad's contract, ect...

Neither Luke nor Vlad's contract affects LO's worth or cost effectiveness. They have nothing to do with each other.

As for LO averaging 10 rebounds off the bench???? Puff, Puff, Give. Pass the Dutchy. Don't mess up the rotation.

That's the only way you can think that's possible. 10 rpg off the BENCH??? Come on now...when was the last time that happened?

Keep in mind that Phil mentioned that LO would still play a lot of minutes. More like 30 minutes a game than 15-20 minutes typical of a bench player. Phil is looking for Odom to fill in at both PF, SF, and maybe a little SG as a backup. He's not going to be a typical bench player who fills one position. Therefore, his minutes will not be typical.

David Lee in the 2006-2007 season for the Knicks averaged a double-double despite not being consistent starter. He averaged about 29 minutes per game. If he can do it with those many minutes, I can't see why LO can't do it if Phil does plan to play him 30 minutes as he mentioned.

Nice leap? Go look at your post history. In almost every thread, you trash Odom.

Seriously, it's getting old and annoying. Grow up son.

Dayam, I thought lakerfool is back...

I wanted to see him goes for a total meltdown... You know with Kobe being the Finals MVP while Lebron losing and acting like a huge turd during the off-season...

I imagine him dreaming of killing Kobe in his sleep...
