Playing the S now and attacking inside more cause Clark is at the 3. Good decision. Nice hustle tonight and some nice defensive plays. Was nice he only has 4 or 5 threes a game now on average since the change instead of 10 and 15.

Also shut down Pierce in the second half. Pierce got him in the first half but he adjusted and Pierce only got 3 points the rest of the way.

So all and all what we expect from Metta and a nice second half defensive performance.

Yeah but a game ago he made some key plays and has been taking less 3s lately. This game offensively he was very bad but he made some key defensive plays on Dirk(the one which got Dirk a tech) and the final play of the game it was his D oin Dirk that caused him to throw it to Mayo for a desperation three.

Metta is the ultimate 'non stat sheet' guy. His stuff doesn't always appear on the stats sheet but he makes an impact. Its just people choose to remember the turnover he has and not the following play where he steals it and makes an and one.

Just how it is. Not a stats sheet guy but more often than not he makes a difference.

Most importantly he's been taking less threes and less shots. Which is good and needed. Nash and Clark are getting his threes instead and Metta is fighting for rebounds should they miss.

Found his place whether or not it appears on the stats sheet every night.

Metta shot 50 percent against denver I believe only 8 shots taken. His shots have gone down since being the starting 4 this is great. Much more controlled efforts lately from mwp which is what we need.

I’m seriously tired of seing MWP play. On one possession (being down 5 points) he starts to dribble and you can just see that he is going to throw up an ill-advised BRICK early in the shot-clock. The next play you see him pick someones pocket and go for a fast-break dunk. He [expletive]ing gives me an ulcer.

 

Playing alongside Kobe, Nash and Howard our 3 is going to get a lot of open looks and so he needs to be efficient and know his role.

 

I think we'd be better off playing Kobe at the 3 and letting MWP come off the bench.

I don't ignore the bad stretches he's had and already acknowledged them.

I don't forget the consistent months he's played well in either. One bad stretch in the month doesn't change my opinion, I acknowledge his games good or bad and talk about what he did well.

His shooting has been down for the last D or so games since being moved to 4 and since Clark was given the permenant 3 spot.

Which I also acknowledged. So you trying to even insinuate that I ignore his bad games or only comment when he has a good one shows how very little you've seen of my posts pertaining to him and how lame the point you were trying to make was because you had to fabricate something to make it appear stronger.

He's no longer have a good season. His FG% is again below 40% and his defense has gotten worse. He plays an entire good game on defense once in a blue moon. He can't do it on a consistent basis anymore.

2.0 turnovers.

This season 12.7 ppg 5.5 rebounds .395 shooting from the field .347 from three.
73 percent from free throw 1.6 steals 1.4 turnovers.

So he's averaging more rebounds, shooting a higher percentage from three which considering the bad month he just had says something, averaging less turnover, is on pace for the same field goal percentage and is shooting better from the free throws and his steals are on pace as well.

So he's pretty much spot on career number wise while rebounding better this year and shooting better from the free throw, three point line and averaging less turnovers and fouls.

In the midst of a bad stretch that's pretty good.

His FG% the last few years really brought his career FG% down. 39% shooting is unacceptable even for guards, much less forwards. He needs to stop shooting with efficiency that low. He's averaging a rebound more, wow. And, his other stats are too little to matter in the scheme of things.

 

Bottom line, he's very inefficient on offense like he has been since he's gotten here. And, he's nowhere near the same kind of defender. He gets burned way too many times throughout the course of a game. You can't measure individual defense on basic stats like steals. That particular stat favors players who gamble. That doesn't mean they are good defenders.

He is garbage

 

Shooting under 40% is garbage.....Id be okay with it if he was still a good defender. But he isn't any more. He consistently gets lit up and can't stay in front of his man.

 

He is our weakest link in the starting lineup....he can longer contribute on either side.

He takes the dumbest shots in game. What he needs to do offensively is spot up and shoot. He ISOs too much like he's kobe and airballs all the shots. Work as a spot up or in the post on offense, nothing else.

Had a good stretch of 48-50% games but last night had a bad offensive night.

However he played a good defensive second half(a trend this season apparently) as he held Rudy Gay to 2-13 in the second half.

Good defense? Gay's been having a sub-par shooting percentage this year. MWP has lost a step in his defense and his offensive game is just horrific.

Rudy had ni problem scoring on Clark and didn't shoot 2-13 till Metta was put on him.

Just watch the position that he let Anderson just walk by at ease. The poisiton ended up Anderson making 1/2 ft's but seeing MWP that weak, that slow made me feel really bad. I am trying really hard to believe in MWP, that he still can be a defensive force but he is porving otherwise every single game. Don't think that i am talkin based on one position, i only used it as an example and that was a very very bad defensive sequence for Ron Ron. He is getting abused even by PF's, quickness-wise of course. That tells the story.

Solid game today, forced it at times but I like they worked it through the post for him after he missed some early ones and Kobe found him for good layups and post ups down the strech. And that left hand vice grip stopped some layups, mid range game was on point today.
