I liked it - loved the books and the LoTR movies as well, I'm sure this will meet or exceed expectations as well.

As a huge LOTR fan I can't wait for this. It's time to resurrect this thread. According to IMDB the movie comes out on 14th December.
This is the first of movie of the trilogy ( not 2 movies like it was rumored earlier). The second one - "The Desolation of Smaug" comes out 2013 followed by the third and final part - "There and Back Again" probably in 2014.

just an ad (not trailer)
I think it's epic advertising.

lets be real here. LOTR is great, and for anyone who's actually read the books the Hobbit in many ways is more interesting than LOTR. but splitting it up into 3 movies runs a huge risk of having an incredibly dull 2nd movie.
anytime you split something up into 2 parts people naturally don't enjoy part 1. splitting it up into 3 is gonna be weird because while LOTR is a trilogy but following the same story there are 3 distinct books and for that reason a trilogy makes sense
they'll be 3 well made movies, and i know i'll enjoy them but i think the masses may find 3 movies for 1 book to be a little much.

read the book when I was a kid. May not be as exciting as the lord of the rings trilogy but still very good.

How is the new 3D system? (48 fps)

48 fps was almost too real looking. So real that the Middle Earth sets looked fake if that makes sense.
