They said they needed two years to develop a great game again. Only reason they are waiting till 2009 to make a modern CoD again.

theyre gonna have a cod every year regardless just odd years treyarch gets it since activision likes to milk their franchises

on a sidenote its a 7 kill streak for dogs i must not have noticed until 10 lol

The reviews are coming in!

IGN - 9.2
It's easy to be jaded about World War II shooters, but Treyarch makes a convincing argument to stay excited with World at War. The game is packed with a deep amount of gameplay to appeal to every type of player, from those who want to experience a gritty single-player campaign to those who like to play with their friends to those who just like to play multiplayer. This is a solid, confident shooter with plenty to offer the casual and hardcore alike.

TXB - 9.2
Call of Duty: World at War was a surprisingly satisfying experience all around. Developer Treyarch really showed that they could be trusted with the keys to Dad’s car, and made a game that could be compared favorably to anything Infinity Ward has done. Looking back on it all, this is the game Call of Duty 3 should have been, so maybe we should all just pretend that one never happened. Now what do we want more next, Call of Duty 5 or Call of Duty: World at War 2? That might actually be debatable.

CCC - 9.2
Treyarch did a remarkable job of breathing new life into the WWII shooter. They followed the conventions outlined by Infinity Ward to a tee and, as a result, created a shooter that is every bit as good as last year's entry. Of course, there isn't a whole lot of innovation this time around, but the increased Multiplayer options, new settings, and great enemy A.I. should more than satisfy all but the most jaded Infinity Ward fanboys.

Gamespy - 9.0
"Although the campaign storyline isn't nearly as engaging as the one seen in "CoD4," there should be enough memorable set pieces and intense sequences to keep you riveted throughout. The addition of a co-op mode brings a great deal of replay value to the proceedings, especially once you start throwing the death cards into the mix. Ultimately, it's the multiplayer and co-op action that will keep us coming back for more."

I may be chastized for saying this, but I actually enjoy this one a little more than Modern Warfare. The dog attack is brilliant and can do more damage than the airstrike function. Although I miss the M-16 in this game, the MP41 and BAR guns are fun to use and it gets pretty interesting. I'm a sucker for nostalgia, so the whole brutality of the weaponry like the Bouncing Betty and the Tabur Gas grenades really bring it dirty dirty for me.

I was going to rent the game today with LD2k but Blockbuster doesn't have the game 'til tomorrow so I'm definitely going to pick this up tomorrow.

Alright so I believe this IS better than COD:4.

But I love WW2 games. This is by gar the best WW2 game out there and I will say the levels remind me of a Gears of War feeling to them - they're huge with beautiful scenery. The maps for MP are huge and allow for every class to get what they want. Plus, with no laser sight, I thought it would be worse but it is surprisingly challenging and fun at the same time...

I think it is more intense than COD:4 as well. I feel the dogs are more fun than the helicopters as well.

All in all, if you enjoyed COD:4 - you will enjoy this
