No overreacting.

It's a panic by the other owners against the Lakers. Let's see how it shakes out.

But yeah, the hypocritical nature of this is unbelievable.

The NBA owns the Hornets. Not George Shinn. David Stern does have influence over this trade.

Owners have the authority but cannot sustain the trade. The trade benefits all sides, it is fair and completely legal even under the new CBA regulations.

so if i understand this correctly, if majority of the owners are against this cp3 trade, they can veto it and it's possible it doesn't happen?

NBA owns the hornets. They can kill the deal. Lebron Wade and Bosh were free agents. NBA couldnt stop that, so stop comparing the situations

WTF man. This is ridiculous. The league is full of a bunch of crybaby owners. If you don't like your situation, then sell your team.

how is this even a little ok. so where is an appropriate place to send chris paul. would they have done this if he was sent to boston? no

this is just baffling. the lakers didn't trade derrick caracter for chris paul. they traded pau gasol and lamar odom. the lakers actually gave a lot up. this isn't a good look at all. i may stop watching the NBA if they kill this deal

They hired an independent interim GM so he could act without being influenced by anyone. He's the one who calls the shots. The NBA can't legally "force" him to do anything, but we'll see what happens...

The GM is an independant one. He makes the calls, and clearly is a making a call that is fair and is under the NBA and CBA regulations. If Stern forcefully terminates the trade, he's looking at a lawsuit.
