A macabre discovery in Belize shows just how far Laker fandom has traveled.
While recently visiting the Caribbean, Los Angeles-native Matt Sepulveda stopped in Belize City, Belize. Nestled in the city's cemetery -- almost 3,000 miles away from Staples Center -- was a grave decked out in yellow paint with team logos and basketballs drawn on the sides.
According to the cemetery's caretaker, the grave belongs to Arthur Young, a top basketball prospect who sadly was shot and killed after an argument with an acquaintance, said Sepulveda.
The shooting happened in 2003 or 2004 while Young was still in high school, according to the caretaker.
Young was a huge Lakers fan, and so was his father, hence the Lakers grave, said Sepulveda
The grave's headstone has since been destroyed, according to photos Sepulveda posted online.
