Odom practices mainly with second unit

LA Times: We're having Lamar come in and play off the bench so that he can start thinking about how he can help the team and what he can do when he does that," Coach Phil Jackson said. "But I don't know if I'll experiment with it in a game yet."

If Odom became a reserve, he could still play substantial minutes, Jackson said.

"If the team's successful out on the floor, you want to keep that group going, so if a guy comes in and plays, you play him until he's tired," he said. "We [could] really get a sixth guy who can play 34 minutes with ease."

I think it would be best if Odom starts. Vlad is too streaky and has horrible defense while Ariza shares the same faults as Odom (lack of a J)

If Odom doesn't start this season, Phil better start Vlad.

Vlad has actually been trying to play D this preseason. :huh:

LA Times: Along those lines, Andrew Bynum worked more with Pau Gasol in the first unit (there's still some confusion, but Drew said they're coming along as a tandem), Vlad Radmanovic- whose play and ability to expand the court was praised by Phil- also spent time there, and Lamar Odom played both forward spots and even in relief of Derek Fisher off the bench for a good chunk of time.

until odom shows some want, he should be coming off the bench.
even then, trev's hustle and explosiveness might compliment the first team better.

Maybe a good move for him. Where ever he plays this season, he wants to play WELL. He wants to stand out.


He won't stand out on the starting unit...at least, not in a good way.

Odom is too talented to be a 4th option guy in the starting lineup.

His talents and skills suit him better as a 1st option with the bench unit.

Why start him if he cannot rebound and score much, since he will be at the perimeter all day... that would be a waste of his talent...

I'm starting to feel like it doesn't matter who starts as long as whoever is on the floor is producing. We have versatile depth and could potentially have the sickest rotations in the league.
