Who said that? Boston still has Garnett, Pierce, Allen and Rondo signed for the upcoming season, which is at least $55 million. Jermaine is still signed. Sheed's contract is still in the books. They still have Jeff Green. There's absolutely no chance they can give Nene anything over the MLE.

I was thinking you know New York needs him, Nene Amare,Melo, and Billups would be formidble, There would be no adjustment period because Nene already played with Melo and Billups. Does new york have any cap space?

Nope, they're over the cap. I'm not sure if they're able to negociate a buy-out or a sign-and-trade with Billups.
They may be better off making a run at DeAndre Jordan, who is cheaper and better defensively and may want to play in NY. Clips can match though.

Part of that is correct, but you're forgetting that Nene is a free agent right now, not next season.

Boston can dump all of those contracts, but this season, they will still have Garnett, Allen, Pierce, Rondo, Jermaine, Green and Sheed all in the books, and they don't have the cap room to sign anyone.

By the time Garnett and Allen are free agents (after next season is over with), Nene will be signed to a multi-year deal elsewhere, and it will be the 2012-13 season.

The only way that is happening is by making some complicated sign-and-trade involving Jeff Green and Glen Davis.

I think he should stay in Denver. The teams that need him are either over the cap or Minnesota. Minny would be a nice fit though, with Rubio and K-Love.

I've been adding new player salaries into a database for the last month, on and off. Even if I wasn't doing that, I'm pretty sure we would all know he was a free agent because of the sign-and-trade talks we would hear about before and during the draft.
