Do the Lakers move up into the first round?

As everyone knows, 2nd round picks are very hit and miss, but what does everyone see happening:
Lakers draft four 2nd rounders?
Lakers package picks and a player to move up into first round?
Lakers package picks in a trade for another player?
Ultimately, I think the Lakers will try to move up into the first round, but they won't try very hard due to the strength of the draft. I see them drafting one player (two at most), and packaging the rest of those picks in trade for a player.

Nolan Smith would be interesting. He can create for others, shoot well when someone is creating for him, and he's not a scrub when defending the point (high defensive IQ, length). He also has some range on his jumper, which is what we need, and was a leader on the college level.
Maybe Smith will stay an early second pick...or late, late first. We could make a small trade to get him...low risk, high reward.
I also like Reggie Jackson, more than Nolan Smith, but I'm not so sure Jackson will fall past the Blazers (at 21). He's an efficient scorer with enough lateral quickness and length to defend, and he can facilitate well...exactly what we want at the point. Probably too good to be true.

Unless someone drops (a la Kobe), not sure that we'd be able to accomplish much.
That said, there are a handful of PGs in the 1st round that could help LA. It would be interesting to see if the Lakers make an effort to work their way into round 1 and snag one of them. (Even if the trade comes after the pick is made for them).

I say trade Gasol/two second picks to T-Wolves for the #2 pick.
Draft Derrick Williams out of Arizona.
Sign Carl Landry.
Start either Landry or Odom at the 4.
Let Williams develop into a star (he's going to be good).
Either that or bring in Kemba Walker.

You would really trade Pau for the #2 pick? I hope you're joking.Apparently the T-Wolves are open to moving the second pick to get veteran help. Hmmmm....

Teams that are struggling (such as Minny) would benefit from taking that risk. Us, not so much.

I really like Williams and if the lakers were rebuilding I might do it. If it was for Irving then I think I would do it as we need help in that area. I think Mitch is going to see what is out there and try to get a PG who can match up with the pg's in this league. I wouldn't be surprised to see him dangle Pau out there and see what offers he can get.Apparently the T-Wolves are open to moving the second pick to get veteran help. Hmmmm....

If I had the second pick, I'd probably lean toward drafting Kanter.
But, he could end up just being another overblown Euro stiff (like Dirk).

haha dont get too upset. Thanks for reading my post. You read every word except the word "if".
either way i dont think he'll dangle pau out there, i live in seattle so i'm a big UW Husky fan and i got to watch Williams in the pac-10 tournament. let me tell you the dude is for real. I think irving is wayyyyyy over rated for having been injured. WIlliams single-handedly carried Arizona through the pac-10 tournament.
lol westcoast24 dont ride peoples nuts
