whats funny is there is more of a chance that little wayne got more white votes than eminem

lil wayne is pop music and justifiably was beaten out by luda

in terms of mainstream i would go

in no particular order

eminem
Nas
Dr. dre
Ice Cube
The game
Common
Jay-Z
Talib Kweli
andre 3000
Bone Thugz n harmony (their group collectively is better than 75% of hip hop)
snoop dogg
lupe fiasco
kanye west (college dropout, late registration, and graduation were classics but love lockdown is dropping him)
chamillionare (mix tapes are absolutely sick)
DMX (not a great rapper but he has some real stuff to say)
ludacris
T.I.

Black Thought of The Roots is the best rapper alive in terms of skills.

Over 10 years in the game, and hasn't lost his step.

And I can honestly say I've never heard a wack verse from him.

his songs are not even rap, its basically comedy with a hip hop beat. I havent liked his stuff since day one, but apparently 90% of the world does.

Well most of his mainstream [expletive] was what you're describing, like he's always had 1-2 of those songs on his albums. But listen to the rest of his album and it's NOTHING like that, it used to be some hardcore scary evil [expletive] lol, but he knew how to rap and he could flow and tell a [expletive]ing story and that's the truth.

well to vibes defense rakim and KRS-One are not considered mainstream anymore

I agree with flowdesignz though, everyone has their own style, and its TOTALLY DIFFERENT so you can't really compare, it's the fans that like to do that and i understand it all, but it's like i can't sit here and say that a person like eminem is a "better" rapper than .... let's say, mos def ..... they all rhyme basically, all have punchlines, metaphors, synonyms, that may or maybe not be better than someone else ..... but i can say that ... imo, that mos defs STYLE is better than eminems, or that he "hits" harder and better than eminem, or that he's more "on point" with the beat than eminem ..... that's just my opinion tho

I just like hardcore gangster stuff that most people never heard of. Im not gonna bash anyone for liking who they like, but Eminem never made one song I like.

Okay, I'm going to attempt to drown myself. You can try this at home. You can be just like me.

I think alot of it has to do with age too. I honestly feel bad for anyone that missed out on the early 90's stuff.

age really has nothing to do with what you listen to, i understand what you mean but im 15 and i listen to more of 90's hip hop than probably most of the people here.

well you're an exception ...... usually if you aren't from an era you're not gonna know a lot of stuff that came out ... most people your age that listen to early 90's stuff just listen to classics that everyone knows ... not generally obscure stuff .... i can name 80's/90's rappers that you never knew existed
