OC Register: It’s early and there’s no guarantee Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol will step on the court together, especially in the early going. Not when Phil Jackson described the West Coast version of the “Twin Towers” as clumsy.

It still stirs the imagination, however.

The Lakers, though, have experienced two big men on the court before. Derek Fisher remembered watching Shaquille O’Neal and Elden Campbell play briefly together in 1996-97.

“We had to try to figure how to play those two guys together,” Fisher said. “And it was an interesting year because we never really settled into it.

“Then Shaq got the abdominal pull and he went out and Elden went out and had like a 10-game stretch where he scored something like 30-40 points a game. So it’s a challenge and one that our team is gong to have to figure out.
