Dwight Trade Possible This Offseason

Posted Image

During an online chat, Ric Bucher reports he expects the Magic to trade Dwight Howard during the offseason.

Sources tell Bucher that Howard has a strong preference to move to the Lakers or Nets.

Of course he wants to go to the Lakers... he wants Kobe to win him a trophy! I like Bynum when he's healthy better than Dwight though... but Dwight is much healthier than Drew. Drew's only 23 still. Maybe the sports MDs should just go ahead and replace Drew's knees with titanium :)

Keep dreaming. They would take brook and humpries and farmar over Bynum and brown and even odom isn't enough. If they want him in the west then we have a chance. But if they took pau and others and even if we had to eat gilberts contract. Kobe fish Dwight odom and we got a shot for a while
Again - this team, as currently constructed won't make it out of the second round of the playoffs, let alone the West or win the Finals.---fido on 2011 Lakers

Billionaire owner, Jay Z as a minority owner, Deron Williams and the prospect of moving to Brooklyn which will sell out all the time unlike the meadowlands

I would trade Drew for Bynum...but I think everyone knows how fragile Drew's knees are. Would be hard to convince them.

I would give up pau Lamar and artest in a heartbeat. Rebuild with true role players. Eat arenas contract and all that.

I agree Bucher is a numbskull...he embellishes things but at the same time he makes true reports too like he called Andrew's season done back in 08 when everyone said he'll be back for the playoffs

My God, can we please just focus on this season? Also, for what it's worth, I can't say I trust Bucher nearly as much as some other reporters.

The Lakers would have to give up Drew, Odom, draft picks, a young player, and take back a bad contract if they want Howard. The Magic would ask for a similar package Minny asked for KG if they ever decide to put him in the trade block.

This.

If Dwight does get moved, the Lakers interest will largely depend on how we do this year.

Seasons the Celtics lost ECF when Lakers won the championship (7): 1953, 1954, 1972, 1980, 1982, 1988, 2002
In NBA history, the Lakers have finished better than the Celtics by a margin of 41-25!

I never listened to Bucher after he said that Kobe will never play another game in a Lakers jersey and he was going to Chicago.

The Nets are not close. Sure they may have a little more trade to offer, but we have a 7'0 300 pounder to offer. plus, we can use some of our 4 draft picks we have. The only thing the Nets have also is a proven PG. We have Gasol, you can take pressure off Howard. That was something Howard did not have in ORL. Plus, Howard wants to be an actor. So LA will be the main destination land. The only thing that stands from here is Jim Buss and his love for Bynum. But Dr. Jerry Buss may overturn him because this will not be only an upgrade over Bynum, but a huge boost from the financial standpoint. Merchandise, jerseys, etc.
