well damn, that MUST be why they won.

Yes actually it was a huge reason. They took care of the basketball, ran their offense, and hit their shots.

They played a great game, don't take that away from them. Stop living in your little world where Lakers lose because of themselves, and the opposing team doesn't do anything. A game is decided on both ends of the floor. We played horribly as a unit, and the Hornets played arguably the best game that they've played this season.

PJ just said he was "stunned" . He also said he thought the Lakers were late on defense and not as active (thanks captain obvious!)... but the most interesting thing he said was that Artest was the best player out there today. Even though Kobe "had a lot of points"

Gets it. Maybe people should quit going OMG THE HORNETS WERE UNBELIEVABLE and look at what the Lakers did wrong. How many points in the paint did the Hornets have today? How many times did a guy cut and get into the paint with zero resistance? How about the numerous times they switched and we were left with AWFUL matchups?

If the Lakers don't play smart defense, or offense for that matter, losses like these happen to this team. It's not uncommon.

This isn't taking into account the no-show by Pau Gasol either. Way to be aggressive in the final minute with that quick move and finish. Perfect timing.

You know you're not playing defense if the opposition had only 3 TOs.

I just saw no sense of urgency from these Lakers. The played like they did against Houston, the game after Yao was out for the season.

Phil and Kobe need to have a serious talk with the Spaniard. He should NOT be on the perimeter when he's probably the best post player in the league

Now Lisa Leslie is speaking the truth... Pau should have tried to go inside more. Most of his attempts were farther from the basket than normal, including a 3point attempt wtf?

Exactly what I was thinking throughout this game. This had better not turn into another Houston series, that was awful.

And Pau was downright invisible. We were screwed every time Bynum was subbed out because Pau doesn't feel the need to defend the paint. If he had shown up, we could have won this easily. I saw him pass out of the post THREE times today when he had either Jarret Jack or Trevor Ariza switched onto him. There is no excuse for that.

No actually, I'm sure it had more to do with...

NO shooting 52% from the field and

NO outscoring us in the paint 52-34

Pau Gasoft having 8 pts and 6 rebounds on 2/9 shooting

LO having one board in 31 minutes

etc etc etc.

You know, things like that?

Pau Gasol is GONE

Thats an inflated stat though because favorites win game 1 most of the time.

The 21% is usually the favorites who lose game 1 and wake up

Hopefully the lakers wake up

I agree.

You know, things like that?

Whose defense caused our poor shooting?

Who played the post D?

Who hustled to get points in the paint?

Who bodied up on Gasol and forced him to either shoot a jumper or pass it?

Who boxed out Lamar, Forcing Artest to grab the loose balls?

The Lakers didn't do anything to themselves except let the Hornets do what they wanted.

New poster signature! Conveniently grey Everyone needs to put it up until we find Pau Gasol. The more posters up the better chances of finding the all star Gasol!

Anyways, can't wait until game 2

Not @ all, we had a chance to sweep n didn't execute. You can't guarantee anything in sports

Well I'm sure many fans reacted to this matchup as a guaranteed sweep anyway ha =\

Hopefully the TEAM shows up next game and so forth... it also benefits us that Aaron Gray wont be playing Game 2 so hopefully that'll be a start of improvement.

Looked like a typical sunday morning game for the lakers, no energy, poor shooting, not taking care of the ball and making the other team look impossible to beat, the hornets had a perfect game no doubt, it will be reaally hard for them to repeat this efort against the lakers in any one of the next games, I knew the lakers wouldnt sweep the hornets because its really hard to go 8-0 vs a team in a season, and i doubt gasol will give this effort again, I say the lakers win in 6, in 5 if they start calling illegal screens on emeka o[expletive]
