Oklahoma is the 4th seed. Even with a win tomorrow and a Dallas AND/OR Lakers loss, both Dallas and the Lakers hold the tie breaker over the Thunder.

No, it's correct. I don't know why they are saying otherwise on TNT. OKC is locked in at 4th.

Yup, the tiebreaker screwed them over. They locked in at 4th.

Who Owns the Tie Breaker with the Thunder (and dallas)? The Thunder (Division Winners)

http://www.welcometoloudcity.com/2011/4/13/2107921/oklahoma-city-thunder-playoff-seeding-watch-april-13th-2011

So confused, I thought that division winners were only guaranteed the top 4 seed meaning they would go to a head to head comparison for the tie breaker...oh well.

They are wrong.

They are wrong.

Actually, they are correct.

Per NBA.com:
Playoff tiebreaker reference guide
Two teams (top 5 tiebreakers):
1. Division winner
2. Head-to-head record
3. Record against teams in own division (if teams are in same division)
4. Record against teams in own conference
5. Record against playoff eligible teams in own conference

"Prior to last season," NBA spokesman Tim Frank said, "we added division winner as the first tiebreaker in an effort to provide a larger benefit to capturing a division title."

Homecourt is determined by record not seeding. But if the Mavericks and Thunder meet in the playoffs, the 4th seed would have HCA over the 3rd seed. lol

Lakers win narrows Nuggets' 1st-round opponent to OKC and Dallas. DEN-OKC if Mavs win Wednesday. DEN-DAL if Mavs lose and OKC wins.

That's what I don't understand, then. The tie-breaker should be applied for seeding.

At least that's what I'm reading. I don't get that.

And the other page I read (which was the page quoted in Lakers_55's post), it needed to be updated. NBA.com screwed that all up.

Reading up on it...it's seeding, doesn't matter if they match up or not.

So...

Lakers get #2 if they win tomorrow, or if the Mavs lose.

Lakers get #3 if they lose, and Mavs win.

OKC gets #3 if the Mavs lose, and they win.

-----

Bucks @ Thunder
Hornets @ Mavs
Lakers @ Kings

Do the Hornets want to play the Lakers or the Spurs? It's odd though...the Hornets could let the Mavs win, which COULD put Dallas at #2, while they COULD fall to #8 (depends on what Memphis does). Or, the Hornets could beat Dallas, solidify the Lakers at #2 and the Hornets are set to play LA.

Thanks, and realistically though, the standings will stay the same for the top 4. I see the Lakers, OKC and Mavericks winning.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Thunder destroy Denver. The Nuggs are beat up pretty bad...seems like every starter is injured right now, and missed games at the end of the season because of those injuries.

I'd take OKC even if the Nuggets were healthy, but it would be a fun series to watch, nonetheless. For the sake of having competition, and eventually wearing down OKC, I hope that's the case.
