On paper they're the team to beat with center Andrew Bynum finally healthy to join guard Kobe Bryant and forwards Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom. Other than losing big man Ronny Turiaf (who left for Golden State), the Lakers are returning almost the exact same roster that got six games into the NBA Finals. Coach Phil Jackson has some serious rotation questions to resolve - specifically moving Odom from starting power forward to either the three or even the one - but depth is a Laker strength.
According to the guy that writes the power rankings, the departure of Posey and the return of Bynum are the main reasons why the Lakers start off on top of Boston.
