The samsung captivate is avaliable on at&t. It's pretty good

For anyone with an android device who wants to root their device follow this guide:

Z4root:

• Mediafire
• Hotfile
• Megaupload
• Rapidshare

• Settings - Applications. Make sure there is a check to unknown sources.
• Download Z4root 1.3.0. Connect your device to your computer and sync the .apk file into your device (any directory you can access on your phone)
• Find that directory, and install z4root
• Z4root will now be in your apps, Open it
• Now you will have an option to Temporary or Permanently root your device. Temporary means your device will be unrooted after you reboot it. Permanently means it will be permanently rooted to your device unless you unroot it by going to the same app and pressing unroot.
• Some phones (like the droid x) takes merely seconds for the device to be rooted others can take up to 10 minutes
• You are now rooted! After you are done another app called "Superuser" should be installed. Everytime you download an app that requires a rooted device this message should pop up. Press accept.
• To unroot go back to the z4root app and press un-root
