We know the lakers have tons of SF.

Should they focus on replacing ronny and get a big man?

Or add more depth behind fish and farmar incase one goes down?

Whether we like it or not we have two bodies occupying space on this team that consume roughly 9% of our salary cap. Based on that alone they are going to have to handle our backup Forward duties. Because so much is unknown about Mihm's health for next year we need an insurance policy, we need a backup big for cheap. One who could play both C and PF would be great, but whatever the case he's got to be able to share time against monsters like Yao, IMO.

We need a replacement for ronnie turiaf, wo can also play the center position if needed. We already have enough gaurds.

The Lakers should go after a big man. We have Kobe, Sasha, D-Fish, Farmar and well Kobe pretty much can handle both the 1 and 2. I mean as long as we have Kobe we're pretty much fine for guards so we just need a big man for backups.

btw, I don't like Kobe at 1. He's no spring chicken anymore.

Fisher is old now and we could see a significant drop off in his play, any time soon. Old players usually have sudden bad seasons. Fisher basically is a great spot up shooter, but is he still a good overall PG? Then there's Jordan Farmar who was horrible after Crittenton got traded. Farmar has been showing alot of attitude of recent times and there are doubts about him. A new PG who can ACTUALLY play defense could be just what we need. We continually have unkown PG's that play amazing against us and cost us the game. All a PG needs is abit of speed and the ability to shoot the 3 to burn us. Getting a good guy in who can take care of the ball, shut down opposing PG's and shoot well could be a real difference maker.

Then there is the SF position. Odom doesn't look suited to that position. Plus his contract is fairly large. We could ship Odom for a defensive juggernaut who can hit the 3 (Artest, Battier). A guy like Artest/Battier who fights hard for every ball would add a mental toughness to this team. A toughness that can only be found at the moment, in Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum. There are several SF's in the league who make a real difference, despite not putting up amazing numbers. Could Artest/ Battier/ Other guy/ be this guy?

Unfortunately, we cannot trade Odom for a good SF AND a good PG. We have to choose one or the other. Trade Odom for a good SF and be stuck with Fisher/Farmar at PG OR trade for a good PG and be stuck with Ariza/ Walton/ Radmanovic at SF?

I'm 50:50 on the idea.

We have the best guard in the league. Our PG rotation is more than solid with Fish and Farmar. Sasha is a great backup to Kobe and if need be Luke or Ariza could play SG at times. We need another big to give us some rebounding, defense, and fouls. Mihm will only give us one of those 3 things I mentioned.

Big man. We don't really have any adequate back ups to Pau and Bynum, unless Mihm can actually come in to camp healthy.

Otherwise we're going to offer someone like Landry a contract, but my worry is that he is declining x-rays on his knees before he signs a contract.

We shouldn't be worrying about our guard for I mean we have the best one on the planet. Yes, i know and understand the PG and Sg are different but worse comes to worse and one of our PGs get injured we can always sign like 10 game contracts to bring in a reserve if one of them gets injred or why not give Karl some playing time?
With Ronny gone though now I'm scared for I don't see Odom getting those big finishes on Kobe set ups the way Turriaf did. We need to get a big PF that has potential for just a season under Phil and Kobe can change a lot.(Oh I forgot to mention Kareem)

Big- We need a rebounder off the bench who can give us 12- 15 mins and Mihm is not that guy.

Big man for sure. God forbid, but if one of our bigs go down, then we could possibly see Mihm as a starter again......while if one of our guards go down, we have a lot of backup that we can plug in.

Talented, mobile, glass cleaning bigs are hard to find...so that is my answer. Theo Ratliff and Brian Skinner are the ones I have read about who I wouldn't mind donning the Golden Armor.

we need tough, serviceable back-ups at both positions. not sure who's left from the big man FA list. skinner would probably do fine.. idk. last time we had a new guy w/ some semblance of toughness (newble) our coach just let him rot on the bench.

we could probably get a guard via trade. will miami be fine w/ a luke or vlad for banks swap?

is juan dixon available?

i know he sucked bad last year, but if he comes into the season in shape bonzi wells could be the power guard (more of an SF actually) that could help ignite the team's bench play.
