Competition baby and why that emoticon? It's a good thing, puts more pressure on Apple to improve their product. Without competition, they can take their sweet arse time even more and hold back longer on more better & necessary features. So many companies have to copy Apple just to get their quick buck

the very reason we have so much cool [expletive] available in the world today is because the world is built on taking something, and making it better...be thankful for the copetition otherwise we'd still be driving model Ts and wathing black and white tv...So many companies have to copy Apple just to get their quick buck

why should i get one of these? they're just a bigger Motorola / samsung phone with droid OS on it
LOL. Yeah why would anyone want one of these? Can't even make a phone call.
Calm down. I'm kidding. Those were like the reactions to the iPad when it dropped.
My only problem with the tablets in the thread so far are the price. If I were to buy a pad/tablet I'd want it for under 500$. The Motorola looks decent but I wouldn't deal with Verizon, so that's out. The samsung looks too laptopish IMO would be over kill for me(have a laptop). The Asus looks cool but I saw something on amazon where it's going for a G. Way too much for me.
I'm interested to see where the iPad goes.
But I'm also interested in the Vizio tablet. I think(if priced right) could make a sweet universal remote and web gadget .

Eventually every company does copy ideas from one another, but what people care about is the end result. And Apple always makes their products top notch and other companies are still far behind.

Honestly the only thing i can say Apple makes better than anyone is a multimedia device because their iPod Touch is head & shoulders above anything else right now. But other than that I can find cheaper but better PC's than Apple Computers & trust me i'm not a fanboy or a hater, I use both Mac OSX & Windows 7 at home & enjoy different aspects of both.
It's true though everyone copies everyone eventually, like Palm having the patent for a smartphone but there are smartphones from everyone.

Every year we hear that "Apple better watch out", yet every other piece of competition always falls short. These new tablets will come out, and Apple will release a new version of an iPad which results in other companies going back to the drawing board.
The iPad is not the best tablet available and the iPhone is not the best smartphone available. You can find better products than the iPad and iPhone for a lot less than their retail price. HTC makes the best phones. You can find better tablets than the iPad and Android OS is a far superior OS than anything Apple is going to release this year or next year.

Stop being an Apple fanboy. What's so special about Apple and their products? You act like Apple invented the first smartphone, first tablet, etc. and everyone is copying their technology.

But when you add up all the moving parts, Jobs had every right to be cocky and kick around the competition, notably Android, Samsung, Motorola and RIM. Sure, you could argue that Jobs lowered himself by calling out rivals by name, but the message was received: Apple just ensured that the other tablets are dead on arrival.
“We think 2011 is going to be the year of the iPad 2,” said Jobs.
No argument here, Steve.
As my colleague Jason Perlow noted: The competition is “mega screwed.”
