As for his relationship with Bynum on and off the court, that's coming along pretty well too, at least in Gasol's eyes.

"I think it can develop in other ways,'' Gasol said. "He's a bright guy, a very nice young guy, who has got a lot to learn and mature, and hopefully I can be there to help guide him in the right direction.

"I think if we develop a relationship off the court, it can improve our chemistry and understanding off it.''

Just what, if anything, do the two have in common?

Bynum, being just 20 years old, has different interests than Gasol.

"He's into video games and cars. He's a big car guy,'' Gasol said.

Gasol is more of a live music, going out to a nice dinner kind of guy.

"I don't see him going to the kind of concerts I go to,'' Gasol said. "He mentioned he wanted to go to a Jay-Z concert, so maybe I'll go with him to to that.''
