Its going to be impossible to replace him. The best they can do is what they did with the Scarecrow in the beginning of the Dark Knight. Give the Joker a passing line or two, a piece of what is going on in the next one and then lock him up in a prison. Johnny Depp is great, but he can't replace Ledger's performance.
We were talking around work about who would be great to cast in the next one and we were thinking Steve Buscemi as "The Riddler" would be absolutely great.

What I heard is Johnny Depp will be Riddler, not Joker. And Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the Pinguin... but I doubt it.
