Trevor Ariza steered clear of the issue about who will be starting at small forward for the Lakers in 2008-2009 after Coach Phil Jackson suggested that Ariza may replace Lamar Odom, the L.A. Times are reporting.

"I haven't had no conversation with Phil about that," Ariza said. "I really don't care. I'm here to play basketball. Whether I start, come off the bench, whatever role I play, that's what I'm going to do. I'm not going to stress over it. L.O. is a great player too."

Ariza has a shot from baseline while Odom can't hit threes.....Ariza has Defense while Odom struggles on D sometimes...IMO Ariza starts Odom 6th man. Starting 5

News today said something about Odom being the ball-handler.

I agree, Vlad can definitely become the starter...

Odom would be a better fit backing up Gasol as a PF than backing up the starting SF.

If Phil is looking for the unit that plays well in the triangle, it is ALSO entirely possible that Vlad's ability to spread the floor will create adequate spacing for the 3 STARS to operate.
