Uribe joins Dodgers with three-year pact
LOS ANGELES -- Juan Uribe passed a physical exam Tuesday, making official his free-agent signing with the Dodgers to a three-year, $21 million contract.
Uribe leaves the defending world champion Giants to join the rival Dodgers and is expected to start at second base, displacing Ryan Theriot, who was traded to the Cardinals on Tuesday for pitcher Blake Hawksworth.
The signing of Uribe adds a productive bat to a lineup in need of one ever since Manny Ramirez returned from a 2009 drug suspension lacking the power that made him a Hall of Fame-caliber hitter.
