Today is the day when it is believed that Ben Gordon will decided between the six year, $59 million offer that the Bulls have on the table or the one year qualifying offer which will make Gordon an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, the Daily Herald is reporting.

Only Gordon knows which way he is leaning.

I'll put my money on the 1-year qualifying offer.

He wants to be a prime time starter and it won't happen on the Bulls.

He needs to take the 6 year deal already. Does any other team want him for a starter? If they do, I don't know if he'll fit that role. But then again it's the NBA, where amazing happens.

RealGM.com:

The Chicago Bulls today announced that guard Ben Gordon agreed to accept the one-year qualifying offer that had been tendered to him by the team. Gordon will thus be under contract with the Bulls for the 2008-09 season, at which time he will become an unrestricted free-agent.

The 6-3, 200-pound Gordon has appeared in 316 games, including 128 starting assignments, in four seasons with the Bulls. During that time, he has averaged 18.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg and 2.9 apg, while shooting .432 from the field and .416 from three-point range. Last season in 72 games, he led the team in scoring for the third consecutive season, posting 18.6 ppg and shot a career-high .908 percent (third in NBA) from the free throw line. Gordon was selected by the Bulls in the first round (third overall) in the 2004 NBA Draft.

He could of gotten WAY more if he accepted that original offer from the Bulls. It seems like since he has no where else to go, he's forced to stay with the Bulls.

I merged the 2 topics on Ben and I knew he'd take the 1 year offer.

So Gordon will have a great year this year and cash in on the first team to step up and give him starter minutes/role with the paycheck to boot. The Bulls can then trade him midway through the year or do the sign and trade summer fun thing.

Easy to see coming, in the long run its the best for both parties.

Yes it's bad.

Gordon does nothing but score. He plays no defense whatsoever, he doesn't pass well and he doesn't have the greatest of attitudes. Plus, Lamar's value is about 7 times that of Gordon's.
