Sources: Magic "Aggressively" Pursue Steve Nash

Magic Rumor: I was told by multiple sources that Otis Smith will "aggressively" pursue Steve Nash before the trade deadline.

If the Magic don't trade Dwight to the Lakers, the next best thing would be Dwight committing to the Magic. It's the only way Deron Williams becomes available.

Source: Suns Won't Trade Steve Nash Unless He Submits Request

Nothing's changed in Phoenix: Suns still not trading Steve Nash unless he asks for it, sources say. And he won't.

Blazers Interested In Trade For Steve Nash

Posted Image

The Blazers continue to be interested in making a trade for Steve Nash, according to sources.

But most sources don't expect a trade involving Nash.

"Because of his age and because he can leave in the summer, offers for Nash haven't been as star-laden as you'd think," said one source.

Steve Nash Refuses To Chase Title, May Re-Sign With Suns

Posted Image

Steve Nash is almost certain to remain with the Suns through the deadline.

"Everyone else is more worried about [my future] than I am," said Nash. "There is so much talk of it, it's almost become noise now."

While Nash has had an excellent season at the age of 38, the Suns are on the outside of the Western Conference playoff picture.

Nash isn't going to request a trade and isn't anxious to play for a more competitive team.

"If I get the chance to compete for a championship, that would be great," says Nash. "If I don't, there is still a lot of reward to be had. It's an interesting dichotomy. In one respect I want to win a championship, but not at all costs. I'm not just going to chase one. I feel a sense of loyalty to my teammates. Maybe there is a time you part ways, maybe there is not."

Nash will strongly consider re-signing with the Suns. Nash highly values the training staff, quality of life in the Phoenix area and the Suns can also pay him the most money.

^ That is totally respectable and admirable on Nash's part. You can't really say he doesn't want to win. He does, but his arguments make sense and again are very admirable.

yo.

Nash's heart has been ripped out too many times. Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant and David Stern (suspending Stoudemire for game 5) all killed his chances at a championship. Maybe he just wants to spend his remaining years playing basketball on a team he loves, for a city he loves.

If you're not chasing a title, then what are you playing for?

How long has Nash been in the league? More to the point, how long has he been with the Suns? And how many championships has he gained while being..."loyal" to the Suns?

Can't believe you would compare this with Kobe's situation. First of all, look at the franchise that Kobe plays for; Steve Nash plays for the Suns man.

im just saying. why are you trying to fault a guy for being loyal to a franchise when there are those ringer chasers who can't do it on them own and have that "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" mentality. maybe i'm just old school and don't believe in these bandwagoner mentalities that everyone seems to love.

Loyalty is overrated in professional sports because franchises/owners [expletive] over players all the time. You really think if Phoenix got a damn good offer for Nash, they wouldn't take it just because they would rather be loyal to Steve Nash?

The ultimate goal is to win a championship and I don't see Phoenix trying to do much to secure one. Steve Nash seems to be content with that fact and that rubs me the wrong way.

Please. The Suns don't want to trade him. He'd rather finish out his career with the Suns. Nash has built a relationship with the community and doesn't want to [expletive] on that by asking for a trade to the contender. He is under contract to play for the Phoenix Suns. He clearly doesn't feel comfortable forcing himself out of a losing situation.

Nash has become the face of the Phoenix Suns organization. A two-time MVP. Great point guard and a better person. He wants to finish his career in Phoenix rather than forcing a trade to the [expletive]ing Heat.

Nash is the perfect example of what a franchise player should be.
