During that series, the Lakers were unable to control Garnett on either end of the floor, Pierce was a force offensively and in key situations, played superb defense on Kobe Bryant and overall, the Lakers got outmuscled by the Celtics.

At a pre-training camp session with the media, Jackson scoffed at a suggestion that perhaps the Lakers were too soft as opposed to the Celtics, who plainly were aggressive in the Finals.
“You don’t get to where you are by being a soft team,’’ Jackson said. “Boston was tougher than we were in the last the last game. They deserved it. They got it.’’

We'll beat Boston this year for sure. Our team wasn't complete at the time, but now it is so we'll be going full power at them.

losing posey will truly hurt boston, he helped them so many times during the finals during crunch time situations especially with his 3 point shooting, whos gonna back up peirce now? and who is gonna defend kobe?

Most likely Ray Allen will be defending Kobe. I wouldn't count Boston out entirely, but they are much more vulnerable now.

The Celtics are still very dangerous, but the loss of Posey is a bigger hit than I think even the Celtics realize. I don't know if by them saying that Darius Miles is the answer to filling the hole Posey left is just them trying to act like everything is ok, or if they're really that blinded by their own arrogance. The integration of Bynum into the starting 5 and the loss of Posey are too much for the Celtics to handle. I don't think that even with Posey they could win against the Lakers this year.

This is the Lakers' year.

The extra year, on two of Boston's big three (KG and RayRay), will be significant. Their age was showing significantly over the course of last season and especially into the playoffs. Credit to them, for having enough in the tank to finish it off, doing it again will be that much harder.

I don't expect to see them in the Finals this year. One and done.
