Virginia @ #16 USC -- USC -- I think USC sucks this year. Your defense is horrible. Can the USC D finally stop anyone this game?

Suck is a little too strong. Our offense is great. But our defense is very suspect at this point, which has a lot to do with experience. You will see a much better performance from the D this game.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Nick Perry get back out on the field this weekend. We didnt have him last week.

One of the hot topics amongst SC fans is if Kiffin is going to get away from using the tampa 2 as the base defense and possibly going to a base 3-4 defense.

In the Tampa 2, the main job of the linebackers is to drop back into coverage, leaving the front four to rush the QB. The staple of USC's linebackers is their ability to get after the QB and in the Tampa 2, you will rarely see that outside of a few packages. So if USC went to a base 3-4 defense in which they can add another linebacker and have the front 3 rush the QB, plus you have the four linebackers where you can send one in and drop three or send 2 in and drop 2, etc.

There's a lot of stuff that can be done and it will be interesting to see what will be done if the Tampa 2 does not work. It's been noted in the past that the Tampa 2 does not work against the spread, and thats bad news against teams like Oregon.

Kiffin made a move I like. He has Perry and Horton at DE starting now. He moved Armstead to DT so Harris isn't starting anymore. We get the best 4 linemen we have on the field at the same time!

Yeah Armstead is the prototypical DT in a 4-3 he was out of position. Perry and Horton starting brings speed to our pass rush...
