Ok so I heard about the red blinking light of death, If you haven't google it.

Anyway my mom pulled the plug while I was playing 1 time and ever since then everytime I play it does the red blinking thing but when I turn it on again it works. Whats going on? And how can I fix it?

i think your power block is [expletive]ed. this happened to my friend when he was playing ps3, and the power in his house went off... he had to sent it to ps3 to get it fixed (his ps3 would not turn on)

edit; nevermind not sure what the problem is. i just read it to where you said your mom pulled the plug :P

 ... :hmm: ... :shifty: ... ... :hysterical: okey man...

Yo my PS3 resisted 3 blackouts, 3 times I was playing and the power went off, he helded it just fine, had that light once, no biggie bro. If it starts again, you should be ok, the problem would be if it didn't let you play

Same thing happened to my first PS3, and I fixed it...but I almost ruined the system doing it.

Basically, it overheated, and you have to replace the thermal paste and re-flow the processors. It will probably cost you $120-150 to send it in if you don't have a warranty.

Main thing is, you have to be aware of the room temperature and what is surrounding your PS3. Make sure it's in an open area, and you clean around it quite a bit (get rid of dust, as it will clog the vents and heat up the PS3).

If people take care of their stuff, you wouldn't have any problems. I haven't had any problems with my Xbox or PS3... I got both of them at launch and still running fine.

Alright thanks guys. I checked out the service station and they only repair the local units and the Cech2010 a or b units. So I guess I have to look for one of them under ground repair shops

Well, for the most part, yes. Sony actually told me that Madden and GTA caused my system to overheat, that it was faulty (my PS3 was the first to come out, the 20GB). Said it was clean as could be inside, but also told me that, typically, the systems go out due to lack of ventilation and surrounding dust.

Wow, I remember my friend's PS3 going out 3 times while playing GTA... But yeah, I always make sure my systems or computers ventilation are open and cleaned out at least once a month.

Actually you can hear which games cause your system to overheat by the sound the fan does. Uncharted 2, Assasins Creed, Maddden, they all make it go extra fast. I hadn't noticed it with GTA tho RD, I'll be more careful now when I kick it with Niko Bellic
