Congrats to A-Roid! What a let down this guy was. I was hoping for someone to break that tainted HR record, and was rooting for A-Roid, till the news about him broke.

What about the old timers that used to use drugs to enhance performance? They tried everything even Cocaine to get a extra edge.

i've heard that back in the day players would play drunk though. heck a few years ago david wells pitched a perfect game while still being a little drunk/definitely hungover.

ARod is a natural at hitting. If I was him I'd suggest taking away his homers from those 3 seasons or at least trimming them down to a certain number (30 is safe). I'd respect him for it and it would shut the haters up. At this point no matter how many he hits ppl are gonna hate.

no doubt he's a good hitter. his .303 career average proves it. and he's closing in on 3,000 hits. same goes for barry bonds. steroids don't make you have better hand-eye coordination.


but he admitted he did steroids, it's not like baseball writers and baseball fans hate on him for no reason, he [expletive]ed up and admitted his mistakes. the fact that all throughout his career he's been known as kind of an a-hole doesn't help the cause either.


i think the HOF voters will probably forgive him and vote him in, but at least for me personally, his home run records are tainted.

But look at ARod compared to McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, Giambi, Canseco. ARod has always been a more complete player. Those guys were all about the power. They weren't great baseball players, they were great homerun hitters. That was their strength and a good reason for it was b/c they used steroids. Outside of Canseco and Giambi, those guys won't admit it or won't say why they used it or for how long. I think it matters. ARod manned up and admitted using it for 3 years. He doesn't have any reason to lie about it anymore, he got caught. The steroids might have given him a bit more power but if you look at the numbers, they're not significantly different like they are for those other guys. This is why if I'm ARod, I offer to get those tainted numbers off my career so I can move on without doubts and what ifs. I can't remember exactly what years he said he used, but just by looking at the numbers you can't tell. Not like he was hitting 60-70 homers in a season.
